The owners of REPS, Marjo and Hannu Selin, have been in personal training since early 1980's. Their careers in fitness started with Marjo's success in female bodybuilding. Her achievements in the professional competition in New York, Las Vegas, Montreal, Toronto, Nice along with huge international media coverage led Marjo to worldwide travel to guest pose, conduct seminars, and promote fitness products. Marjo and Hannu lived in Washington D.C. 1981 - 1988 where Hannu worked at the Embassy of Finland and Marjo completed her business studies (BBA) at Marymount University in Virginia.      In July 1987 The Washingtonian magazine voted Marjo and Hannu "The Year's Best BodyBuilding Couple". They had many opportunities to make presentations in government agencies, schools, social clubs, health centers, and they were often invited as fitness celebrities to community events and fundraisers.

In end of 1989 Marjo retired from competition, and she and Hannu made Maui their home. In Hawaii Marjo produced her lifestyle & exercise video "Savage Grace Workout" in 1995. She and Hannu organized the "Muscle Classic Maui" bodybuilding championships for three years. They also invited top fitness competitors and international media for a "Hawaii SuperFitness" event which received coverage in Entertainment Tonight and ESPN.

Marjo and Hannu worked at the Grand Wailea Resort as personal trainers. At the resort's Spa Grande fitness facility they had sessions with many celebrities such as Sharon Stone, Geena Davis, Donatella Versace, Michael J. Fox, DB Sweeney, Kathy Lee Crosby, Courtney Cox, Halle Berry, movie producers Larry Gordon and Don Simpson and music stars Niki Sixx, Paul Stanley and David Murray.

In 1995 Marjo and Hannu decided to open up REPS in order to provide exclusive training sessions also to Maui residents. The small 600sq.ft  studio soon became known for its privacy, impeccable service, and for Marjo's and Hannu's expertise in training. In 2000 Marjo fell in love with Johnny G. Spinning program; she started the first private spinning studio as an expansion to REPS. Today REPS is at the new Wailea Town Center, and the 2,300 sq.ft. facility features pilates and yoga instruction, too.

Marjo and Hannu contribute with passion and help others to improve their health and well-being. They work with clients one-on-one by appointment at REPS as well as off-site for those who have special needs. They also contract to group and travel programs, and they can design residential and commercial fitness equipment plans.

They continue to support the community around them giving to local charitable organizations and participating in special cause fundraisers and events.


MARJO SELIN

Internationally recognized personality Marjo Selin has acquired titles including the National Championship in her native Finland and the European Championship. She won the bronze medal at the Women's Pro World Championship in Nice, France, and competed in 8 consecutive Ms. Olympia contests 1981 to 1989.  Marjo placed in the Top Six Finalists in 1987 & 1988 in this most prestigious event for women bodybuilders.

Marjo has been spokesperson and a host for Cannes Film Festival, ESPN, Grand Wailea Resort and Spa on Maui, and many major American and European corporations. She has modeled for Sharper Image, Muscle and Fitness, Shape, Elle and countless other fitness and women's magazines worldwide. For many years, Marjo authored a column on working out for MuscleMag International called "Repping with Marjo".

Marjo co-owns REPS Fitness along with her husband, Hannu.

HANNU SELIN

Co-Owner / Personal Trainer

Hannu has been weight training for over 40 years, and has competed in Olympic weight lifting, power lifting, and bodybuilding. He started lifting weights at age 12 in 1968. In 1988 he received his personal training certification from Body Zone Fitness Specialist, Inc. in Washington D.C.

Hannu has helped numerous contestants compete and win in bodybuilding competitions. He himself won the Big Island Bodybuilding Classic in July 1994, the Masters 40+ Overall title at the Paradise Cup in Honolulu in November 1997, the Overall Masters 35+ Hawaii State title in June, 2002, and most recently, Mr. Finland Masters Men 50+, September 2007.

Hannu has been featured in countless international bodybuilding magazines. Robert Kennedy's legendary MuscleMag International had a 7-page feature on Hannu in July 1989:
"Hannu is the friendliest son-of-a-gun you'll ever meet. He is constantly joking but never tells jokes. He muses about life with a wide-eyed innocence. People find his warmth comforting and his demeanor non-threatening. Above all, he loves to train. He lives for bodybuilding."

Hannu is an expert with gym equipment. He has designed both residential and commercial fitness facilities, including a home gym in Kaanapali for Mr. Falk, the owner of Valley Isle Motors and Lexus Beverly Hills dealerships, a corporate fitness center for Dowling Co. in Wailuku, and the exercise room at Wailea Beach Villas luxury condominium complex in Wailea.
